I have photographed this beautiful family a few times already. Its such an honour to be able to see this family grow over the years. I am already looking forward to the next time…maybe by the water?

The window ~

All around me there are signs that you are growing up. The clothing that used to fit you are piled in a corner of the room neglected. Winnie the Pooh sits on the shelf in the closet looking at me from across the room, wishing he could just shake off the little layer of dust that has settled over the years. Down the hall I hear both of you laughing together at something just the both of you know about. I just can’t believe how fast time has gone by and I wish deep in my heart that I could go back for a moment to that time when I held you in my arms. I smile and I turn to look out the window. The window. As much as things have changed and we have all grown, I am comforted by the fact I can sit here in this very same spot and look out that very same window just as I did many years ago when we started our journey together as a family. All I have to do is close my eyes and I am back there, years before, holding you in my arms. Magically, I can almost feel the softness of your newborn skin on mine and smell your sweet scent filling the air.

Jennifer & Andre ~ married ~ part 1

All weddings are special to me and I am always honoured to be a part of such a special day. A couple of weeks ago I shot an extra special wedding - extra special because it was for family.

A few days before the wedding we were all checking the weather forecasts – a major snowstorm was coming – ugh!! But as always, I never worry to much about the weather because it isn’t something we can control too much. But as luck would have it, the expected snowfall didn’t happen – it bypassed us and stayed to the south – LUCKY!! That morning the sun was shinning brightly for all of us!

When I got there they were in full swing already. Jennifer was already sitting having her hair done and full of smiles. Thank you to Christine Smith for such a beautiful look.

I just loved the flowers…and the colours!

Jennifer’s friend Alexandra Cameron did an amazing job on her make up and helped make her feel like a true princess.

Such a playful look, don’t you think?

A very touching moment when Jennifer’s friend called to wish her the best on her wedding day…I have to admit I started to cry too…

I just loved her dress…full of graceful elegance.

I love this moment. I love the look on her face. She would look over at me and take deep breaths in and deep breaths out…I knew exactly how she was feeling…

It was very important to Jennifer to get a photograph of her and her grandma who was, unfortunately, unable to attend the wedding.

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year

Well, I can’t believe its only a couple of sleeps away. Christmas preparations are in full swing at our house. The kids are going bonkers with excitement and have an abundance of extra energy these days. Although I have more stuff to finish, I am really looking forward to spending this magical time with my family.

Although I still have some business planning for 2011 to do and sessions to blog (including 2 weddings, where I had the pleasure of tagging along with Julie C. Butler, as well as an engagement session), the studio will be closed from December 20 to January 3 inclusive. If you are expecting, and would like to book a session, please email me at photosbyrej@rogers.com or call at 613-219-6310, so we can book you in ASAP. I will be checking emails and phone messages periodically.

To all the wonderful clients I had the pleasure of photographing this year, I hope you all have the most enjoyable Christmas, and especially to the new parents – babies and children make this time of year that extra special. dreams ~

As parents we want the best for our children. Our hearts want nothing but goodness and happiness for them. We hope that the world will appreciate them and see them as the true gift they are as much as we do. We want them to do what truly makes them happy. My children are still rather young, but I can only imagine what it must be like to watch them grow into young adults with visions and dreams of their own….

I know that this mom is very proud of her children. I know this because we chat often about our children. She has so many wonderful things to say about her kids…. I was lucky enough recently to spend some time photographing them and I could see the pride on her face the whole time.

(Lindsay, I am certain that we will all hear your amazing voice on the radio soon!!…oh, and then my daughter wants to know if she can meet Justin Bieber.. )

romance session

Lauren has always been a great believer in me and my work, and so I was thrilled to finally work with her and her hubby Jason for a Romance Session at the Experimental Farm last Sunday. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect evening. There was a slight wind, just enough to keep us cool, and the glow of the sun was just amazing.

We were all having a great time…as you can tell.

They certainly worked the camera for me!

I love the expression on them in this picture! They are such a fun couple!

I have only been to the ocean once in my life, and that time the ocean was very angry, as hurricane Floyd was on its way. One day, I would love to see the beautiful colours it offers. The Museum of Nature is the closest I will get for now.
