Anu & Jeff ~ married

A while back, as in June (I know, I’m so behind on my blogging!) I had the pleasure of second shooting with my good friend Julie Bulter for Anu and Jeff’s wedding. From the moment I saw these 2 people, it was absolutely obvious that they were crazy about each other.

The day started off with celebrations outside the Temple. They know how to celebrate!

After a few photos outside the Chateau Laurier, we went inside to continue the celebration.

Doris & Jason ~ married ~ part 1

Thanksgiving weekend I had the pleasure of photographing Doris and Jason’s incredible wedding at St Patrick’s on Fallowfield followed by a wonderful recpetion at the Yangtze dining lounge on Somerset. I had never photographed a Chinese wedding before, so I was really looking forward to the colour and traditions.

As soon as I drove around the corner to Doris’ house, I knew right away which house it was by the decorations placed out front.

The living room was all set up ready for the tea ceremony that was going to take place.

Let the games begin! The tradition holds that the boys have to negotiate their way in. They waited on the porch and negotiated with the bridesmaids and family through the window. The girls had a price in mind…and made them do all kinds of, ummm, tasks. The first offering of coffee wasn’t exactly what they had in mind.

A little bit of money, but not the amount the ladies had in mind.

Here is one of those, umm, tasks. Yes, thats right. They were required to do this pose!

They were such a good sport! Poor Jason almost get a foot in the face here. If you look closely, you can see someone inside laughing.

The final task? They had to sing loud enough for Doris to hear. They did a pretty good job too!

Her look is priceless. She is stunning, don’t you agree?

Ok, so the final task wasn’t really the final task. After making his way in, they made him go up the stairs, every single one, on his knees calling out “Doris, where are you?”

You can tell everyone was enjoying this.

I was really moved while watching the tea ceremony.

Francine & Tony ~ married

I met Francine and Tony at their home. As we sat at the kitchen table discussing their plans for the upcoming wedding, I noticed a cute little kitchen chalk board that had the count down to the big day - I couldn’t help but smile inside because I could sense that there was a lot of excitment in the air. We’ve been together for a while and its going to be a very emotional day, she said told me with a smile. She stood up and motioned me to come and see. She led me down the hall to the room at the end of the hall. She opened the door, looking back down the hall to make sure that Tony wasn’t anywhere in sight, then stepped inside. There, she proudly lifted her dress off the bed and held it up gently for me to take a closer look. I made it, she said, and all those too. I looked around and saw more…more dresses and decorations she had made herself. She turned to me, and with a smile said, It’s a passion…gift from my grand-mother.

Francine and Tony, thank you for allowing me to be witness to your amazing day. It was a joy for me to be there as your wedding photographer. I wish you lots of love and happiness. ~R

jennifer & andre ~ engagement

I love shooting engagement sessions and recommend it to all my brides and grooms because it gives us a chance to spend some time together before the big day. One of the really special things to do with the engagement session photos is to create a one of a kind sign in book for the wedding reception as seen here - such a fabulous way to showcase a wonderful day.

Well, I can’t believe its only a couple of sleeps away. Christmas preparations are in full swing at our house. The kids are going bonkers with excitement and have an abundance of extra energy these days. Although I have more stuff to finish, I am really looking forward to spending this magical time with my family.

Although I still have some business planning for 2011 to do and sessions to blog (including 2 weddings, where I had the pleasure of tagging along with Julie C. Butler, as well as an engagement session), the studio will be closed from December 20 to January 3 inclusive. I will be checking emails and phone messages periodically.

wedding ~ ali & scott ~ part 1

romance session

Lauren has always been a great believer in me and my work, and so I was thrilled to finally work with her and her hubby Jason for a Romance Session at the Experimental Farm last Sunday. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect evening. There was a slight wind, just enough to keep us cool, and the glow of the sun was just amazing.

We were all having a great time…as you can tell.

They certainly worked the camera for me!

I love the expression on them in this picture! They are such a fun couple!

Its that time of year again when everyone starts to emerge from their home and explore the outdoors (gosh, its soooo good to feel the wind blow in our hair – and not the wind that comes with the -30 weather!). Its also this time of year when I start to get more and more bookings for sessions, so I just wanted to let you know my availability.

I always do my best to squeeze in newborns, so if you need a newborn session let me know and I will do my best to squeeze you in.
